JOB SUMMARY:
- Teach five sections of Middle School English, which could be in one or two grades.
- Collaborate with department members to write, update, evaluate, and deliver curriculum.
- Run a Homeroom class for 8 to 12 students (10-minutes daily) as well as facilitate extended homeroom lessons throughout the year on DEIB and other related topics (approximately 6 times per year, 40-minute classes).
- Meet up to twice-weekly with MS Counselors and other grade-level teachers to talk about student well-being.
- Attend annual MS Camp for four days and three nights.
- Participate in an after-school activity, club, or sport.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- Three or more years of teaching experience in Middle School
- Bachelor’s Degree (master’s or doctorate preferred) in English or related field
- Fluent in English
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.

POSITION SPECIFIC:
Our English program is grounded in the practices of reading and writing workshop pedagogy in order to foster independent, critical, and creative thinkers. Teachers need to be able to:
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, and a love for reading and writing.
- Emphasize skill building and analytic thinking through exploring a range of diverse texts.
- Support students in the writing process across various genres.
- Provide opportunities for students to take ownership of their learning through goal setting, choice, and self-reflection
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet regularly with team members to craft curriculum.
- Attend department and divisional meeting as required
