JOB SUMMARY:

  • Teach five sections of Middle School Spanish with up to three preps across multiple levels of Spanish.
  • Collaborate with department members to write, update, evaluate, and deliver curriculum.
  • Run a Homeroom class for 8 to 12 students (10-minutes daily) as well as facilitate extended homeroom lessons throughout the year on DEIB and other related topics (approximately 6 times per year, 40-minute classes).
  • Meet up to twice-weekly with MS Counselors and other grade-level teachers to talk about student well-being.
  • Attend annual MS Camp for four days and three nights.
  • Participate in an after-school activity, club, or sport.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Three or more years of teaching experience in Middle School
  • Bachelor’s Degree (master’s or doctorate preferred) in Spanish or related field
  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proven ability and enthusiasm to organize and lead Hispanic cultural events for students, promoting a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Spanish-speaking world.
  • Strong knowledge of second-language acquisition methodologies, with experience leveraging technology, games, and interactive tools to create dynamic and effective learning experiences.
  • Commitment to explicitly teaching Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) principles through Spanish classes, using authentic materials and aligning with TAS values.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet regularly with team members to craft curriculum.
  • Attend department and divisional meeting as required.
