Job Summary:
Organize, circulate and direct delivery of library services to patrons, development of print and digital marketing and communications, administrative duties, and supervision of students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and circulate (check-in, check-out, shelving, inventory) books and other materials to student and adult patrons to ensure that they have access during the school year and summer school session to quality resources on a daily basis.
- Assist patrons to make effective use of the electronic online catalog and computer equipment to identify appropriate materials to support classroom learning and leisure reading. Monitor patron behavior to ensure respectful use of the facility, a quality learning environment, and student safety.
- Assist the librarian with classes (managing student behavior, assisting with instruction as needed, mounting appealing displays of finished student work) to ensure that students learn essential library skills.
- Process new and old library materials (receiving, verifying classification in the library database, labeling for sub-location, repairing and/or processing for discard) to ensure the availability of updated, well-managed materials.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies to ensure that materials are available for classes and for the daily operation of the library.
- Manage and troubleshoot scanners and printers in library as well as Kindles, iPads, printers, and other electronic devices for circulation and classroom use.
- Knowledge and proficiency in PowerSchool.
- Manage and monitor library budget expenditures within budgetary guidelines and is in charge of vendor communication.
Qualifications:
- College graduate; major in library and information science preferred
- Minimum of two years administration support and or customer service experience required; relevant library admin support experience will be a plus; work experience with children or young adults preferred
- Advanced skills in written and spoken English required. Fluent in Mandarin preferred
- Knowledge and skill in the areas of library circulation and management.
- Computer and general office skills:
- Ability to use English language computer application software
- Ability to use MS Office
- Library database software
- Trouble shooting library computers and printers
- Power School
- Manage library calendar:
- Library FMX calendar
- Classroom inside of library
- Skill and experience with customer service
- Foster a collaborative environment by supporting team members and promoting strong team spirit through cross-training, shift coverage, and contributing to a positive, supportive workplace
- Knowledge of machines: copier, scanner, laminator, and media playback equipment
- Oral and written patron communication skills
- Customer service: circulation and maintenance of library material
- Knowledge of POs and ePOs
- Knowledge of Financial Edge software
Work Schedule: 07:15 AM to 15:45 PM
07:30 AM to 16:00 PM
08:30 AM to 17:00 PM
