JOB SUMMARY
The position of Communications Officer reports directly to the Assistant Director of Communications and is responsible for the implementation of a unified school wide communications program, maintaining in all communication media the desired message, consistent with the mission and culture of TAS. This position primarily works with digital communications and supports print needs in an effort to maintain the image of TAS and strategically and proactively raise awareness of TAS in Taipei and the worldwide community. The Officer is responsible for engaging with the TAS community, communicating the mission, vision, and value of the school to its many stakeholders through clear, accessible, and compelling communications through news stories, newsletters, bulletins, images, layouts, and other vehicles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the school wide communications/marketing plan. Follow and refine specific procedures for all methods and means of communication to ensure appropriate TAS representation and message is established and maintained.
- Develop and manage content on the TAS Website (both pubic facing and parent portals) to ensure consistent and up-to-date messaging that supports the TAS mission and is in line with the communication/marketing strategy.
- Develop strong, working relationships with divisional content creators to ensure divisional post, emails, and portals are on brand and up-to-date.
- Create and manage the scheduled (weekly and monthly) community updates.
- Maintain the TAS social media feeds with guidance from the Assistant Director of Communications.
- Write and post current happenings on campus as news stories (2-3 per week) for the TAS website.
- Provide photography, videography and graphic design support for both the digital and print communication needs.
- Edit and write articles for school wide publications and various fundraising materials.
- Manage the production and maintenance of school wide business cards, stationery, and other officially branded communications materials (print and digital).
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Communications.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of bachelor's degree Experience in the areas of communications/journalism/marketing with considerable experience as a photographer, writer and editor
- Native English language skills, bilingual in Mandarin preferred
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with customer service orientation
- Highly effective organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
- Proven collaborative team working experience
- Strong IT and computer proficiency, particularly with word processing, presentation, and website content management tools. Design and publication skills with Canva, Finalsite, Photoshop, InDesign or other software would be an asset.
- Experience in educational setting preferred
