We are currently seeking a Lower School Speech-Language Pathologist for an immediate opening.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school of speech language pathology.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence or another recognized license
  • At least three years of related experience with preschool/elementary school aged children.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in speech-language pathology within an MTSS/RtI Model.
  • Previous experience providing direct or indirect speech and language therapy services in a school setting.
  • Effective communication skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Excellent time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work independently and problem solve.
  • High level of professional and ethical standards

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Student Support Services (DoSSS) and the divisional Principal, the Lower School Speech-Language Pathologist will conduct evaluations, administer initial screenings, interpret results, create Individualized Learning Plans (ILP) and provide speech and language therapy to students exhibiting communication disorders and collaborate with staff, parents, and students to ensure educational relevance and culturally competent services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assessment

  • Conduct evaluations to identify students with communication disorders and inform instruction and remediation consistent with evidence-based practices.
  • Administer initial screenings, follow-up assessments, and triennial evaluations with parental consent.
  • Interpret evaluation results, highlighting students' strengths/weaknesses and their impact on social, emotional, and academic performance.

Intervention

  • Develop and implement ILPs with targeted goals, frequency/duration of services, and classroom interventions.
  • Provide skilled speech and language services aligned with evidence-based decision-making.
  • Create materials conducive to multi-sensory learning and integrate curriculum content when appropriate.
  • Support students in developing self-advocacy and metacognitive strategies for overcoming learning challenges.

Consultation and Communication

  • Communicate regularly with parents about students' needs, progress, and goals via meetings, reports, and conferences.
  • Attend and contribute to Student Support Services (SSS) and Student Resource Team (SRT) meetings to plan and evaluate student support.
  • Provide updates to teaching teams and faculty regarding student progress and strategies for support.
  • Facilitate transition meetings to support students moving across divisions.

Collaboration

  • Partner with teachers and other professionals to align services with the instructional program and augment classroom learning.
  • Engage families in planning and decision-making to ensure consistent support for students at school and home.
  • Actively involve students in goal-setting and monitoring their progress toward communication improvement.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Maintain detailed records of referrals, screenings, assessments, and intervention outcomes.
  • Track caseload schedules, due dates for ILP updates, and progress reports.
  • Use data to demonstrate readiness for students to exit speech and language programs.

Leadership

  • Participate in continuing education to stay updated on best practices in education and speech-language pathology.
  • Provide informal training to parents on creating language- and literacy-rich environments.
