SY2526 Long-Term Substitute Homeroom Teacher – Grade 4
CONTRACT: Substitute Contract
Duration: Approximately 12 weeks (Starting the week of February 9, 2026, for roughly 12 weeks)
Position Overview
Taipei American School is seeking an experienced and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Homeroom Teacher for a Grade 4 class. The successful candidate will provide continuity of learning, maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, and collaborate closely with grade-level colleagues during the assignment.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of three years of elementary teaching experience
- Fluency in English with strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience working in culturally diverse or international school settings preferred
Professional Knowledge
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of elementary curriculum, subject-area content, and child development
- Aligns instruction to curriculum standards and schoolwide learning outcomes
- Understands instructional practices that promote surface, deep, and transfer learning
Instructional Planning
- Plans purposeful, well-sequenced lessons using curriculum standards, data, and student needs
- Uses differentiated strategies to support diverse learners, including multilingual students and students with learning needs
- Collaborates with the grade-level team leader and Literacy and Math Coordinators to plan instruction and assessments
Instructional Delivery
- Uses research-based, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies to actively engage students
- Integrates instructional technology to enhance learning
- Regularly checks for understanding and adjusts instruction based on student feedback and performance
Assessment
- Uses formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction
- Collaborates with instructional leaders to analyze student data and provide timely feedback
- Communicates appropriately with students and families to support learning
Learning Environment
- Creates a respectful, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment
- Establishes clear routines and expectations that promote safety, belonging, and collaboration
- Values and affirms student diversity, including language, culture, and learning profiles
