JOB SUMMARY
The position of Communications Officer supports the daily operations of the Taipei American School Communications. This role is designed for an early-career communications professional or recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in digital media, storytelling, and school communications within an international educational environment.
Working under the supervision of the Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing, the Substitute Communications Officer assists in maintaining TAS's brand voice, supporting content creation, and helping deliver high-quality digital and print communications. This high-energy and active position requires strong organization, creativity, and a collaborative spirit, along with professionalism and discretion when handling school communications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with implementing the ongoing schoolwide communications and marketing plans.
- Liaise with vendors to support publications and materials production.
- Capture photos or short videos of campus activities and events as assigned.
- Provide light videography, design, and layout assistance using tools such as Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Support the organization and tagging of photo and video libraries and content archives.
- Draft, proofread, and edit written content for newsletters, social media, and website updates.
- Support the publication of news stories and visual content that highlight the TAS mission, student learning, and school events.
- Assist with updating and maintaining TAS’s website and digital platforms under supervision.
- Prepare posts and visuals for social media channels in alignment with TAS brand standards.
- Work closely with division staff, faculty, and other members of the Advancement team to gather accurate and relevant content.

- Support Advancement and other major school events as assigned.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Assistant Director of Communications, Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing, or Chief Advancement Officer.
QUALIFICATION AND SELECTION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree.
- Experience or coursework in the areas of writing, media production, social media, or digital content creation preferred.
- Experience in an educational or multicultural environment a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Native-level English fluency; bilingual ability in Mandarin strongly preferred.
- Strong skills in photography and/or videography preferred.
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms.
- Basic design or layout experience using Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
- Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management.
- Positive, proactive, and open to feedback.
- Strong interpersonal skills and respect for confidentiality.
