Lower School IT Assistant

Job Summary:

The Lower School IT assistant isresponsible for assisting in the integration of technology in allcurricular areas and  STEAM related instruction. This assistant would beresponsible for obtaining and preparing materials, monitoring supply andequipment inventories, updating and repairing equipment, assisting in thepreparation, implementation, and teaching of related units, and studentsupervision during designated technology and design classes and activities.They may also be asked to lead lessons when the Technology and Design Coach isunavailable to do so.  

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Support

  • Reinforce learning concepts in small groups or individually during technology and design-related activities.
  • Offer administrative, technology, and teaching support to Technology & Design Coaches.
  • Source, order, and prepare materials related to Tech Cube activities, monitor supply and equipment inventories as well as liaise with the IT department to ensure that equipment repairs and maintenance is conducted in a timely manner.
  • May be asked to lead lessons as main instructor
  • Provide additional assistance to language learners & students with specific learning needs as necessary 

General Duties and StudentSupport

  • Supervise students and maintain a safe working environment during technology and design-related pursuits in classrooms and the Tech Cube.
  • Learn how to safely use and maintain design and technology tools, such as Laser Cutters, 3D printers, drill press, CNC carving cutters, and multiple robotic platforms.
  • Use various tools to produce student work.
  • Promote school values & rules to help teach acceptable behavior.
  • Assist teachers during emergency procedures.
  • Assist students who require additional help related to a health/physical disability ex. Wheelchair access.

Divisional Duties and Support

  • Attend Divisional events.
  • Other tasks, projects or initiatives as assigned by LS administration.
  • Provide software, hardware, and troubleshooting support to students, teachers, and teaching assistants.
  • Carry out requests made by students, teachers, and teaching assistants related to technology integration in the curriculum, training sessions and other special technology-related requests. These duties can include such things as familiarizing themselves with a new program, assisting with computer projects, or troubleshooting basic software issues.
  • Support after school programs such as library digital homework supervision and the after school robotics club.

Selection criteria:      

  • College graduate (in education or technical field preferred)
  • At least two years in a technology-support related work experience in a bilingual and or international environment is preferred. Technical and Design (STEAM) background preferred. Experience with young children in a similar position is preferred
  • Proficient in oral and written English and Mandarin
  • Comfortable and skilled at working with adults and children 
  • Demonstrates analytical thinking and the ability to use good judgment independently
  • Strong understanding of behavior management strategies effective for young children; Enjoys working with children
  • Possesses good planning, organizational, problem-solving and time-management skills & Able to prioritize work when dealing with multiple demands
  • Able to work independently on assigned duties & Demonstrates flexibility
  • Displays a strong customer service orientation
  • Possesses strong computer skills including a thorough knowledge of and the ability to use school software, as well as the capability to learn specialized software/applications as needed

10-Month Position every school year 

Working Hours: 07:00AM to 15:30PM, inclusive 0.5 hour lunch break 
Expected Start Date: August 2025
