
Lower School Part-Time Dance Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lower School Dance Teacher delivers engaging, creative, and developmentally appropriate dance instruction to Grades 3 through 5 students. This position is integral to the Performing Arts department, working in collaboration with the Lower School Music team, particularly in connection with Orff-based instruction. Dance classes are scheduled from 9:50 to 10:35 a.m. on a 10-day cycle, with 9 days of instruction and 1 day dedicated to team meetings and planning.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Instruction and Curriculum Collaboration
- Design and teach dynamic, movement-based dance lessons for Grades 3–5, focusing on creativity, expression, and performance.
- Collaborate closely with the Lower School Music teachers to integrate dance into the Orff curriculum for Grades 3–4, where students rotate through dance instruction each quarter.
- Performance and Parent Engagement
- Organize and lead quarterly Informance presentations for Grades 3–4, providing parents insight into student learning during class time.
- Teach dance to Grade 5 students year-round, culminating in a performance at the end of each semester. Each performance should include a 6–8 minute piece combining student and teacher choreography across a variety of dance styles and musical selections.
- School-Wide Events and Collaboration
- Partner with the Lower School Music team to support and co-lead end-of-semester assemblies and other community performance opportunities.

Qualifications:
- Must have experience in teaching dance to elementary level dancers. Specifically, familiar with creative movement & Laban Movement.
- Must have BA.
