Position Overview

The Lower School Associate Principal serves as a learning leader, supporting the Lower School Principal in fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and nurturing environment for students, faculty, and staff. This position is instrumental in ensuring high-quality teaching and learning, the professional growth of faculty, and the intellectual and personal development of students. The Associate Principal assumes leadership responsibilities in the principal's absence and is a member of the Educational Leadership Team collaborating to promote the school’s mission, vision, and core values. 

Key Responsibilities 

Leadership and Strategic Implementation:

  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives that align with the school’s mission and core values
  • Support and guide effective teaching and learning in the division, to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all students
  • Analyze data to inform instructional practices and program improvements
  • Assist in faculty/staff recruitment, annual evaluation, mentoring, and professional development

Safety & Wellbeing:

  • Ensure smooth implementation of daily operations including coordination with health services, maintenance, and transportation departments
  • Oversee student conduct and safety, fostering a supportive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to address academic and behavioral concerns
  • Coordinate and execute the division’s emergency plans and address safety concerns promptly

Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Represent the division in school and community events, such as Back-to-School Nights and PTA meetings
  • Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the school community

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the division principal
  • Collaborate with school committees and administrative teams
  • Pursue continuous professional growth and stay abreast of educational advancements 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or higher in education (preferred)
  • Administrative qualifications (preferred) 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience in early years or lower elementary classrooms
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience in an educational setting
  • International education experience (preferred)
  • Proven ability to work effectively in multicultural environments
  • Technology skills
